Tanielle & Ryan

Thanks you guys. Next time instead of payment, you let me ride the bike!

Amanda & Louis

I photographed Amanda and Louis back in August. Many jobs have come and gone since then and I realized that I hadn't bragged about this great couple. Well today I received the nicest Thank You card from the parents.

"Dear Skip, We just wanted you to know that the photos from Amanda & Louis' wedding were outstanding! Thank you for being so flexible and coming to the party the night before as well. You made memories for all of us for years to come! You are the Best. Thanks, Jim and Cynthia Smith, Park City"

Let me just say that whenever I receive compliments like this I am truly humbled. I love what I do and I'm proud to be the one to capture memories for loved ones.

Just Plain Cute

Matt is a new friend of mine. As I was buying a "cup o joe" from his drive up establishment, this little girl popped her head up to see who "daddy"was talking to. One by one each girl got into the action. A total of 4 of the cutest little girls were hanging out with dad and I was just so inspired. Matt I said, I really need to photograph your girls. Great he said, your timing is perfect. I've been thinking about what to do for a Christmas Card this year.
As I pulled up to his home to set up my studio, I hoped that there was enough room to set up my studio. Turns out he had totally cleared out his family room for me. A few minutes later we were shooting away. Shaylyn was visiting from next door and it was an honor for me to capture her cuteness as well.

Montessori at Riverton

Once again, Montessori at Riverton called me back to capture the beautiful smiles of their students. I've often said that whenever I photograph these kids, they just stand out. It's more than what they look like, it's how they carry themselves. Their confidence comes through during the session and the final results are stunning. Thanks again to the staff who are so helpful and especially Miss Melissa who kept it all organized.

Autumn blooms

Taking a ride with my daughter on the Legacy Trail, I was astounded by the weather. The air was perfect and even though the leaves haven't hit their color in the valley, you can tell that it's on its way. One of my favorite creative people is Carin Davis and I often find inspiration in her work. So after my ride I took the camera out to explore the late afternoon sun and perfect weather.

Strollin Downtown

Serwaa and Bryc contacted me the day before their wedding to capture both the classic pose as well as some fun urban looks. The wedding took place at the JP's office and then we met over at the Salt Lake Temple for an Engagement Session. Actually the "real" wedding will be in Pueblo CO next year and they wanted some fun shots to intice their international friends to save the date.
Good luck you two, it was a blast!

La Caille Bridal Show

Thanks to everyone who came out in spite of the sketchy weather. What a great show with a lot of talented vendors and great food. La Caille is an amazing place and if your budget allows look into them for your wedding venue.

Many times "Daddy" has to work and often my kids don't have any idea of what I do. Cindy gathered the chillens and brought them down to the show to check it out. Of course I was really busy chatting with brides about their most important day so I couldn't spend much time with the family. My great wife gave the kids a mini tour of the La Caille grounds including the peacocks, geese and chickens. Apparently one of the chickens thought it would be fun to chase my 6 year old daughter for a minute. It was the highlight of her day.

I premiered the Photo Book by Digital Foci and it was a big hit. It was fun to have people gather around ooing and ahhing including a few "how cool is that?" The Photo Book is the next album of choice for photographers and brides. Photographers can use it as a portable portfolio and brides will totally dig showing off their wedding photos with the bright 8" screen. The most impressive aspect of the book is how well it is designed. It feels great to hold and I'm proud to offer it to my customers.

Here is a quick shot before the crowds engulfed us.

Look around your house for light

We have an empty lot next to our home and Jocelyn was gathering rocks for her "collection". Then she started picking up weeds and giving them to me like a beautiful bouquet of flowers. The sun was setting and I noticed that these weeds were brilliant in the golden hour of the day. Quickly I set up a dark background on our fence and using a 50mm 1.8 on my Canon 20D I started shooting these normally ugly weeds. The light was amazing on my subject as I played with the composition, depth of field and critical focus.

From there we went inside and the windows on the East were providing more great light. Jocelyn and Sam are both quite creative. I let Jocelyn set up the camera and to watch her pose me "the professional", stand back, get the shot and exclaim "that's perfect!" She had me in stitches.

Ashley get Senioritis

Wow Ashley!
I often joke that I only photograph good looking people and Ashley arrived with a dynamite smile and fabulous attitude. We had a great time cruising around downtown and the Salt Lake Temple for those amazing flowers that Spring provides.
It is always a blast photographing Seniors because of their hope for the future. We talked about her plans (and her parent's plans for her), jobs and the like.
Thanks Ashley, I had a blast!

Grape and Cherry

Jocelyn and her friend Sammy love to be girls, mostly by giggling over nothing without a care in the world besides who wants what flavor.
I'm always amazed how easy it is as a parent to just ignore the sillyness and concentrate on the more important things in life such as dishes and messes. As I was sitting there enjoying my Grape Popcicle I suddenly heard their moment of childhood and decided to capture it for them.
I can only hope that they will look back someday and appreciate the memory. For us adults, maybe we can go back in time and remember our childhood sillyness.

United Way teams up with Nordstrom

Nordstrom has a brand new look at the Fashion Place Mall here in Salt Lake City. They will opening their doors Friday morning March 6th at 10 am. I will be there covering the event and showcasing their new digs.
On Tuesday the 3rd, Nordstrom teamed up with United Way and the Women's Philanthropic Network. Over 1100 eager shoppers donated in advance and were treated to food, drink, and a sneak peak at Nordstoms latest store.
Runway models from LA were flown in to show off some key clothing lines and were a great hit for the attendees. There was something so "real" about it all...
You had to be there to know what I mean.
See you there tomorrow.
